Please Join PIA Thursday October 28, 2004 for Second Annual Fundraising Event
Partners in Art along with lead support from UBS Securities Canada Inc. is pleased to be hosting what is sure to be one of the most memorable events of Toronto’s Fall cultural calendar! On October 28th Partners in Art presents a fun and fabulous fundraising party to celebrate the re-location of the Museum of Contemporary Canadian Art to the heart of the City’s West Queen West Gallery and Design District.
Since its inception Partners in Art, (PIA), has been inspired by the Museum of Contemporary Canadian Art’s, (MOCCA), ambitious program of local, regional, national and international exhibitions and activities. PIA feels strongly that the move to Queen St. will allow MOCCA to build upon their solid foundation and increase their potential to make even more significant contributions to the cultural discourse of our times.
The Museum of Contemporary Canadian Art was formed in 1999 from the former Art Gallery of North York and advances a mandate to exhibit, research, collect and promote innovative art produced by Canadian artists whose works address the challenging themes and issues of our times. Since 2001 MOCCA has presented over 30 exhibitions, in 7 countries, including Canada, that have featured work by over 170 contemporary Canadian and international artists.
Partners in Art is a not-for-profit group of art enthusiasts whose aim is to champion the visual arts in Canada. The group develops collaborative fundraising partnerships on a yearly basis in support of arts organizations whose programs and activities have made strong contributions to the cultural fabric of Canada. PIA also implements an active education program for its membership to raise awareness of contemporary art and artists in Canada and internationally.
Please join us in celebrating the thriving creative energy and spirit of our cultural communities on Thursday October 28th, at MOCCA’s new facility, 952 Queen St. West, from 6:30 to 9:00 pm.
The Partners in Art Fundraising Party for the Museum of Contemporary Canadian Art is being generously supported by UBS Securities Canada Inc., Onex Corporation, Aastra Telecom, BMO Nesbitt Burns, Robert and Donna Poile, Alexia McGavin, Brian and Megan Porter, William Mockler & Associates Ltd., Farrow Partnership and the Patrick and Barbara Keenan Foundation. Proceeds of the evening will be used to support on going exhibition programming at MOCCA.
