When: Jan. 14th 2020, 6:30 p.m.

Who: PIA Members and open to the public

Where:
Hot Docs
506 Bloor Street West
Toronto, Ontario, M5S 1Y3

PIA will partner with Hot Docs to screen the film Beyond the Visible: Hilma af Klint. The film will be followed by a panel discussion entitled “From Hilma af Klint to today: does gender impact the value of art?” moderated by Sara Angel, with panellists Shary Boyle and Georgiana Uhlyarik.

Hilma af Klint was a Swedish artist whose paintings were among the first examples of Western abstract art. Yet many believe her contributions have not been adequately recognized although this is changing. The Guggenheim hosted the first major solo exhibition of her work in the United States (Oct. 2018 to Apr. 2019). It was the most visited exhibition in its history. The film looks at her life, her work, her legacy and her rightful place in art history.

Ticket and event information is below. Hot Docs has generously offered the theatre at their landmark cinema for this screening so please invite your friends and family to this special event!
