PIA announces new 2025 Special Project Funding in the amount of $100,000-$150,000 for one successful organization

TORONTO, Jun. 26 2024: Partners In Art (PIA) is proud to offer a grant between $100,000 and $150,000 in support of an exceptional visual arts project originating in the GTA and taking place in 2025 (culminating at the latest in 2026). PIA will be accepting applications from Jun. 30 until Sept. 15, 2024.

Through this project support, PIA aims to enrich Toronto’s arts community in a meaningful, innovative, and impactful way. The selected project will have a foundational and/or transformative impact on the Greater Toronto Area’s cultural fabric, hence a big idea!

Project Timing: The selected project will be underway, if not fully complete, by the end of 2025, with a hard completion date of Dec. 31, 2026. We are accepting applications from Jun. 30 until Sept. 15, 2024. Adjudication results are anticipated by Nov. 15, 2024.

We are looking for projects that:

  • will have a transformative impact on the Greater Toronto Area’s cultural fabric;
  • are led by experienced curator(s) and/or arts professionals with relevant experience;
  • will have a strong community outreach plan;
  • will have strong appeal to PIA membership;
  • fit our project timelines (full execution of the project by Dec. 2026).

We fund organizations that:

  • have a Canadian charitable number;
  • reflect notable artistic innovation and contribute to timely and important conversations in contemporary art in Toronto/Canada;
  • take into account accessibility of their physical space, online content, and programming;
  • offer a strong educational component for both the public and PIA;
  • further PIA’s Equity and Inclusion initiatives.

PIA’s full Assessment Criteria can be found here, and will consider:

  • How will this project impact the cultural/arts sector in Toronto, and how will it move contemporary art forward? Does it demonstrate artistic merit and innovation?
  • How will the community be engaged with this project?
  • What educational event(s) will be granted to PIA members and the public?
  • How will PIA be recognized as a partner in this project?
  • Has the host organization produced a project of this magnitude before? What is the likelihood the project can be successful carried forward? Are there any contingency plans?
  • How has the host organization taken into account longevity of this project? How and where will this project live on?
