Geoffrey Farmer

2017 Venice Biennale

PIA has supported Canada’s artists at the Venice Biennale’s Canada Pavilion since 2002, and this  Biennale was no exception. Founded in 1895, La Biennale di Venezia is the most widely recognized contemporary art event in the world, and continues to represent the very best of global contemporary art. In 2017, Geoffrey Farmer represented Canada in the Canadian Pavilion.

Vancouver-based Farmer is a world-renowned and highly respected artist who has become known for his laboriously crafted projects of epic proportions. PIA was the lead sponsor of Farmer’s 2013 show A Light in the Moon at Mercer Union, and it is exciting to follow his career as he continues to achieve accolades around the world.

PIA has supported Canadian artists at the Venice Biennale in 2007 (David Altmejd), 2009 (Mark Lewis), 2011 (Steven Shearer), 2013 (Shary Boyle), 2015 (BGL), 2017 (Geoffrey Farmer) and 2019 (ISUMA)
