Affinities is organized by artist Scott Rogers for two seven two gallery, Toronto. Unfolding from mediated encounters with nature, the exhibition includes works by artists who share conceptual and material connections with Rogers’ own practice. Ranging between painting, sculpture, wall reliefs, prints, video, and sound, each of the artworks utilise varying layers of representation to reveal, disrupt, and augment the human perception of non-human life.
Scott Rogers was born in Mohkinstsis Treaty 7 Calgary, Canada, and lives in Tkaronto. His practice negotiates the complex relationships between humans, other living beings, and land. Recent projects have been produced with Ormston House (Limerick, IR), ATLAS Arts (Skye, SCO), Pink Snow (Berlin, DE), Nuit Blanche Toronto (CA), Koraï Project Space (Nicosia, CY), Kunstverein München (DE), Ivory Tars (Glasgow, SCO), and the Kamias Triennial (Manila, PH). In 2017 Rogers co-edited “Recognition”, the 14th issue of the journal FR DAVID, in collaboration with Will Holder and published by KW Institute for Contemporary Art (Berlin, DE). In 2025 he will present new exhibitions with two seven two (Toronto) and Robert McLaughlin Gallery (Oshawa).
