PIA  sponsored a comprehensive exhibition of the work of Vera Frenkel at MOCCA in the fall of 2014. Vera Frenkel: Ways of Telling highlighted the work of this internationally-recognized Toronto-based artist. Described as a “master storyteller,” Frenkel has articulated her narratives through an interdisciplinary approach incorporating video, installation, performance, sculpture, print-making and other media. “What” her stories are about – their focus on issues of exile, immigration, discrimination, censorship, as well as the bureaucratization of both life and art – is intimately tied in Frenkel’s art to a specific way of telling.
