Partners in Art sponsored Ai Weiwei’s Snake Ceiling at the AGO. The installation consists of hundreds of children’s backpacks and commemorates the children killed in the Sechaun earthquake of 2008. This monumental piece was part of the exhibition of Ai Weiwei’s work, entiled Ai Weiwei: According to What? that made its only stop in Canada at the AGO, opening in August 2013. PIA invited Minky Worden of Human Rights Watch to speak at the AGO about Chinese artists and Ai Weiwei.
